Academic Volunteer Program
Get involved in your local schools and help empower, challenge, and support our students!
In Centerville Schools, we believe that learning is attainable for all. The mission of the Academic Volunteer Program (AVP) is to involve parents, grandparents and community members to help empower, challenge, and support every learner to grow every day by assisting staff in meeting the diverse needs of our students.
Academic volunteer opportunities are available during school hours in grades K-12 and also in one after-school program. Volunteers assist students -- some who may be struggling, others who need to reinforce skills and still others who need enrichment -- in various ways and in many subjects. We try to match volunteer interests and talents with a variety of positions. Click here to view position descriptions.

How to Become an Academic Volunteer
What's New?
While volunteer opportunities exist at every grade level, are biggest needs for second semester are at our middle and high school level:
Middle Schools: Opportunities exist working one on one or in a small group with students during class helping them complete assignments. We also have opportunities after school one day a week at each of our three middle schools during "study buddies" study halls. Volunteers for these will offer support with completing assignments and general study/work skills.
High School: Volunteers will work one on one with a student during their study hall on a specific subject. We will match you with a student who's subject matches your own interests and comfort level. We can use volunteers willing to help with a variety of subjects, with our most common request being for algebra.

Opportunities for professionals at Centerville High School
Would you like to be a guest speaker at the CHS Speakers Bureau or the Medical Symposium for Anatomy/Physiology & Biotech Students? Please email your information to our CHS Building Coordinators, Samantha Stevens & Mindy Skinner-Williams.
Opportunities through the PTO
There are more options for parents to get involved through your school's PTO. Please note: Classroom parties are done through the PTO, not AVP. Click here to view a complete list of Centerville PTO websites.
