NEWS & NOTIFICATION
PSAT:The PSAT will be held on Tuesday, January 26th for any student who registered. Check in will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the back of Central, with testing beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the front and back high school gyms. Student guides can be picked up starting today through next week at the security desk near the main entrance of the building. An email will be sent to students who registered via the email address they included in their registration. Please check your spam folder. COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS: The College Credit Plus Informational Meeting has been posted on the CC+ webpage. If the parent and student decide that CC+ is a good possibility for the 2021-22 school year, then the student needs to do the following: 1. Fill out an intent form for CC+ 2. Fill out CC+ Guidance Plan 3. Follow the steps of the CC+ Checklist
TUTORING HELP: Our National Honor Society members are offering tutoring sessions for any interested student. Tutoring sessions will be held on the following Wednesdays: January 20, January 27 and February 3 from 1-2. The sessions will be held via Zoom. CANOE TRIP: Interested in the wilderness canoe trip? There will be an informational Zoom meeting on Jan. 21st! See the attached flyer for the Zoom link and more information.
ATTN JUNIORS: The After School Math and English test prep sessions are closed. Please do not register for either of these courses. The Saturday test prep sessions are still open. OHIO U, ARMY ROTC: The Army ROTC program at Ohio University has been ranked among the top, out of 273 Army ROTC programs, nationwide. If you would like to learn more about this program please see Mr. Delatore in the Career Education Office (C162) for a program brochure and contact information. Ohio University Army ROTC "SWAG" will be available.
TRAVEL OPPORTUNITY: Ready to Travel again? With the vaccine imminent, we are hopeful that our planned trips for this summer (2021) will be able to depart. AP MENTORS: The AP Mentors are a volunteer group of current juniors and seniors in AP classes offering one-to-one and study group sessions for all CHS AP courses. Any AP student needing support can sign up by completing a short form on the new AP Mentors site. On the site, you can meet the mentors, sign up for help, and access AP resources.

LADY ELK LACROSSE: CHS Ladies Lacrosse Tryout Registration is open! Visit www.chsladieslacrosse.com and follow these steps:
Preseason Events (Always Optional but Highly Encouraged!) With COVID-19 cases being elevated in our area, preseason activities have and will continue to look different from years past. All dates have been added to the team's "Schedule" tab on our website. Tryouts will take place the week of February 22, 2021.
Tryout Forms The following forms need to be completed, submitted to the Athletic Office, and cleared by the athletic training staff before any prospective player can tryout. To ensure enough time for the process, please have all forms submitted by Friday, Feb. 19th to the Athletic Office. All forms can also be found on the Athletic Department website.

TRACK & FIELD: Attention all students interested in joining the 2021 Track & Field team. Please sign up online so that we can start to communicate with you as we get started for our upcoming season. We will begin optional weight lifting in January on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7-9pm, in separate groupings, so that all social distancing is being followed. Athletes will be assigned groups once they sign up so make sure you fill out the forms. The sign up meeting will be on Tuesday 2/16/21 and more information will be available as to what type of meeting that will be as we get closer to that date! SOFTBALL: Attention all students interested in trying out for the Centerville Softball team. The winter workout schedule has begun, please contact Coach Hutchinson for additional information. Tryouts will take place the week of Feb 22nd. Please have all necessary forms completed and submitted to the Athletic Office by Feb 19. BOOK CLUB: Attention Book Club Members! We rescheduled our January meeting to January 26! See the Classroom (Code 75yfd4n) for the Zoom link. See you at 4 pm to discuss Banned Book Club with one of the authors, Ryan Estrada!
KEY CLUB: Key Club members we are having our Paper Goods collection from Tuesday Jan. 19 - Friday January 29th. Bring in paper goods (paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, ziploc bags, diapers, wipes, foil, saran wrap) and drop off either in the box outside C120 or at the front Atrium box - both boxes are blue and marked with yellow lettering KEY CLUB. All paper goods will be donated to the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Family Resource Center. We will meet on Thursday Jan. 21 on Zoom - check the GoogleClassroom for details. Our remote project will be making Thank You videos for CHS staff and faculty.
MEDITATION CLUB: Are you feeling tension or stress? Then come join the meditation club! We will learn different ways to keep our body and mind healthy through meditation techniques. We will have meetings two times a month on Wednesdays from 3:45-4.15 on Zoom. Follow @meditationchs on Instagram for more info and updates.
GUIDANCE DEPT NEWS
YOUNG SCHOLARS PROGRAM: If you are a First Generation College student please consider applying for the Young Scholars Program. The Young Scholars Program at Sinclair Community College provides College and Career Readiness Programming for First Generation College students. Students are assigned mentors to help with the college application process and are eligible for $1500 in financial aid per semester. OPTIMIST ESSAY CONTEST: The Centerville Noon Optimist Club is sponsoring the Optimist International Essay Contest again this year! One $3500 scholarship will be awarded by the Ohio District of Optimist International, and we'd love to see that award go to a CHS student! The essay contest is open to all students under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2020. The topic for the 700-800 word essay submission is "Reaching Your Dreams by Choosing Optimism." Applications and complete essay contest rules can be found online. Entries are due no later than Monday, February 1. The essay receiving the top score at our club level will advance to the district level to compete for the $3500 scholarship award.

SCHOOL FEES: School fees have been uploaded to your HAC Account. Payments can be made online, mailed or hand delivered to Centerville High School, 500 E. Franklin Street, Centerville, OH 45459. Checks should be made payable to CHS and include your student's name or ID # on the memo line. If you have any questions, please call the bookkeeper at 937-439-3572.
MEDICAL NOTIFICATIONS
MESSAGE FROM YOUR SCHOOL NURSE Attention all CHS Parents Please provide the clinic with medications needed for your student's return to in person learning. The Clinic will be accepting medication on Wednesdays 8:00am- 2:30pm or by appointment. Call 937-439-3514 for appointments for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00 to 2:30pm. When coming for medication drop off park in front parking lot on WEST Side. Call the clinic—937-439-3514 for further instructions on how to proceed with medication drop off. The nursing team will do their best to accommodate medication drop off, however, there will be times that due to clinic volume we may not be available.
