News for January 14th, 2021 Hello PVS Families, This email is designed to give you as much information to help you plan ahead and prepare as we begin our second semester of school on Tuesday, January 19th.
Materials Drop Off TODAY until 7:00 p.m. As we prepare for In-Person learning next week, your child's teacher has been in touch about what to return to PVS. If you have materials to drop off, the teachers tubs will be outside today until 7:00 p.m. for you to drop materials in. Our office will also be open tomorrow from 7:30 a.m.-3:30p.m. if you cannot make it to PVS today.
We want to acknowledge and THANK all of our families who so faithfully participated in this exchange of materials each week.
We will continue to offer materials pick up and drop off on Wednesdays for our students that are learning through remote classrooms.
PVS will take over ARCHERS restaurant on Tuesday, January 19th. Ten percent of the profits for sales (dine in or carryout) on Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. will be donated to PVS PTO. Archer's has a great menu and lots of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The PVS staff will be ordering lunch from Archer's to help increase sales. If you would like to participate and let Archer's do the cooking on Tuesday, please follow the link and show the flyer when you pay for your order. You can print the flyer or simply show it from your phone.
Valentine Snack Donations for Classrooms: If you would like to donate a Valentine snack or drink to your child's classroom, please email your child's teacher. We are hoping to provide one prepackaged treat and drink for each child from parent donations. Let your child's teacher know if you would like to do this. Your child's teacher will be in touch regarding more details about their Valentine Celebration. THANK YOU!!
Reminder: School Picture Day is Tuesday, February 16th for preschool, kindergarten and first grade students. Ordering information will be shared as we get closer to the date.
INFORMATION FOR OUR RETURN TO IN-PERSON LEARNING ON JANUARY 19TH: The PVS staff is ready to continue our year together whether your child is in-person or remote. Many of the following details will focus on in-person reminders as we transition back to classrooms in the building. I want to assure you that we will be following all the same health and safety protocols that were in place in the fall. We will spend time reminding students how to navigate the classroom and building keeping their health and safety as our main priority. Please talk with your child about these expectations so they begin to think about their return to PVS.
SAFETY PROTOCOLS: The health and safety of all staff and students is our number one priority. Our guiding safety priorities are the following: Face coverings are required. Social distancing measures have been implemented for all students and staff. Everyone should wash hands or use hand sanitizer often. Supplies and surfaces will be sanitized after each use.
HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS: Please stay home if you're sick. We ask that you follow the daily home screening checklist each day before entering school or the bus. School Reopening Information For Parents
PVS DAILY SCHEDULE: Our School Day Doors open at 8 a.m. for AM session and 11:50 a.m. for PM session AM Preschool: 8:10-10:50 a.m.
WATER BOTTLES: Please make sure to send a healthy snack and full water bottle to PVS each day. The drinking fountains have been converted to water bottle filling stations this year so having a water bottle is important each day.
TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION: Parent drop off procedures will remain the same. We ask that you arrive as close to 8:00 a.m. and 11:50 p.m. as possible so that we can help open doors and assist students as they enter the building. School personnel will be outside directing cars and students!
After school, parent pick up will again take place at the side of the building at 10:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Please park in a spot and walk to the gym (lobby) doors. We will ask to see an ID until we are familiar with you and recognize you as the adult picking up your child.
Any changes to transportation routines from the fall, or for our newly returning students need to be communicated to the school office through a transportation form. If your child has no changes to transportation, no new paperwork is necessary. If you are unsure, please call the school office and we will let you know what paperwork we have. It's important that we know exactly how your child will go home or to daycare after school is over.
The Home Access Center (HAC) will be updated by transportation and should be ready for viewing. You will be able to check HAC to determine bus numbers and times and locations of drop off/pick up.
IA SCHEDULE: Your child's teacher will let you know what integrated arts class to attend and the time to attend.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WEDNESDAY IS A REMOTE LEARNING DAY FOR ALL STUDENTS.
DISTRICT CALENDAR: Our revised 2020-2021 district calendar is attached for your reference. On it, please note that Wednesday's are highlighted in yellow because they are remote learning days, not because they are days off of school. Also please note the date of our parent/teacher conferences, which this year are scheduled for the evening of February 24th and all day on February 25th. There will be no school on February 25th and 26th. This will be the time that you are able to meet one on one (via ZOOM) with your child's teacher to discuss their progress this year. Teachers will be sending out sign up information to you separately.
RECESS: We will continue with our socially distant recess times. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for colder weather as we do go outside unless the wind chill is below 20 or there is precipitation. We also ask that you send in individual games and small items for their personal recess bags to keep at their desks for the days that we have indoor recess.
CHROMEBOOKS/DEVICES: Students will bring their device home from school on Tuesday afternoon for remote learning on Wednesday. Please make sure to charge their device at home Wednesday after school and return it back to their teacher Thursday morning. Students need to bring their device and charger to school each Thursday.
TECH HELP: There is district technology support available at TECH HELP. Click on the link and it will take you to the Parent Resources page. If you click on Technology Help Desk for Families you will see a link to ZOOM support or a link you can use to ask for support.
As you prepare for second quarter, please reach out with any questions you may have.
Sincerely, Amy Allen PVS Principal
