In-person classes to resume Jan. 19
Centerville Schools are operating in a remote learning environment through this Friday, Jan. 15 and will resume in-person instruction next Tuesday, Jan. 19. Yesterday, you should have received an email with more information about the return to school buildings. Be sure to also check the Elks Back to School FAQ and your email regularly for additional messages from the district, your child's school and/or individual teachers.

School Board Recognition Month
Did you know January is School Board Recognition Month? Thank you to the five members of the Centerville Board of Education -- John Doll, Allison Durnbaugh, Dr. David Roer, Jeff Shroyer and Megan Sparks -- for serving our community! In 2021, Jeff Shroyer will serve as board president and Megan Sparks as vice president.

COVID-19 reporting
School districts in Ohio are required to report COVID-19 cases and quarantines, even when students are learning remotely. During this period of remote learning, please continue to report whether your child has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been in close contact with someone with COVID-19 (within 6 feet of an infected person for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period). This information will also be helpful as we make preparations to reopen school buildings to students.

CHS Spirit Chain City BBQ Takeover - Jan. 20
A group of Centerville High School seniors has decided to get the ball rolling continuing the tradition of CHS Spirit Chain this year. This year, we are collecting money for Open Arms Clinic, Miami County Dental Clinic and Food 2 Go. Throughout the next couple of weeks there will be multiple fundraisers and ways to donate. On Wednesday, Jan. 20, there will be a City BBQ takeover (for contributions to Spirit Chain, use FUNDRAISER A). Additionally, look for donation tip jars at local restaurants and sporting events. Go Elks and let's make a difference!

Greater Dayton Chinese School (GDCS) Offers Free Trial Classes
[All ages] GDCS offers free trial classes on Jan. 10 and Jan. 17, 2021. GDCS offers a variety of Chinese classes as well as extracurricular classes. Our chess class will be taught by a Ohio chess champion. If you are interested in the free trial classes, please email gdcsohio@gmail.com.

Centerville Youth Lacrosse Registration is Now Open
[Grades K-6] Centerville Youth Lacrosse registration is now open for boys and girls kindergarten through 6th grade. Visit www.cvlax.org to register. Registration will close for Boys Jan. 11, and girls will close in February.

Centerville Middle School Track
[Grades 7-8] Attention all 7th and 8th grade middle school students who are interested in running track this year: We are asking you to fill in the interest sheet so that we can begin to send out information when it becomes available. The season starts on Monday, March 2, and you will need to have all paper work filled out and turned-in prior to the start of the season.
