News for October 18, 2020 Pictured Above: What a great staggered start we had last week! See pictures above and below of the children arriving at PVN....and check out that sunrise!
Dear PVN parents,
We are very excited to have all of our in-person students at PVN this week! I recommend checking HAC for bus numbers and times again tonight. Some routes may have been adjusted. Please be at the bus stop at least 5-10 minutes early for the first few weeks as routes continue to be adjusted.
If parents of remote learners were not able to pick up learning materials last week, you may come to the office between 8:45 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. this week. These supplies will be needed for remote instruction the next two weeks.
As anticipated, we have a much higher than normal number of students being dropped off and picked up by parents/caregivers. The following things will help us be as efficient as possible, for drop off: 1. Have your child in the back seat on the right side so we are able to get your child out of their car seat as quickly as possible. 2. Turn RIGHT out of our parking lot and travel through the neighborhood instead of turning back up Marshall Rd. which creates a traffic bottle neck. 3. There is NO parking on both sides of the street in front of the two houses before you enter the PVN parking lot. You CAN park right in front of school (but not across the street from school. In short, please read the street signs carefully and abide by them. 4. Our neighbors would really it if you do not block their driveways and mailboxes and abide by the traffic signs and traffic flow. 5. Be patient!
We are going to try something a little different for parent pick up (about 20% of our students will be picked up each day): 1. We have cones set up for parents to line up and social distance as we dismiss parent pick up students. 2. We ask Kindergarten parents to line up first, behind the red cone. We would like the First Grade parents to line up behind the blue cone, directly behind kindergarten. Kindergartners are dismissed first so by putting their parents up front it will allow us to expedite the process (we hope!). 3. Preschool parents should go to the far door (closer to the circle drive/playground). 4. Any adult picking up a child should bring a photo ID. This is for your child's protection! 5. Please use the crosswalks and don't cross between buses. 6. Be patient!
We spend a lot of time training the children the first few weeks. Once our routines are set and the children are more independent, everything will run more quickly, we promise!
One last reminder: If your child will be having breakfast with us on a regular basis, please write BREAKFAST on his/her nametag. We encourage the children to go straight to the cafe for breakfast each day. There is time for both parent drop off and bus riders to have breakfast before instruction starts.
