News for May 14th, 2020 Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Dear PVS Families, Please see below for answers to some commonly asked questions. I've provided as much detail as I can at this time. If there's anything you need, please don't hesitate to ask.
Warmly, Amy Allen _____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Materials Drop Off / Pick Up How will my student be able to gather his/her belongings left at PVS? How will I be able to return items that belong to PVS? Families will be able to drop off district-owned materials and pick up personal items on Tuesday, May 26, Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28. Detailed information was shared earlier this week through email. Please email Amy Allen at Amy.allen@centerville.k12.oh.us or call the PVS office, 937-312-1273 if you have questions.
What if I can't come during the scheduled pick up days? Additional Pick Up times will be available June 1 – June 5 by appointment only. Families should call the school office to schedule (937-312-1273).
Medication Pick Up What if I have medication in the clinic that needs to be picked-up? If you need to pick up your child's medication, we will have a curbside process in place on Monday, May 18th from 2:00-6:00 p.m.. During this time, you can drive up to the main entrance, stay in your car and a nurse will deliver the medication to you. Just roll down your window, or pop your trunk. If you have a paper with your child's name written on it, we will know which medication to give back. If you are not able to make the scheduled date/time, please email Stacey Hoffman to schedule an appointment. stacey.hoffman@centerville.k12.oh.us
Yearbooks How will my student receive his/her yearbook? I hope that we will be able to distribute yearbooks with students' other belongings during the scheduled curbside drop off / pick up on May 26-28th. However, I'm not confident they will arrive on time based on information I've received from the company. If yearbooks do not arrive in time, we will devise a plan for students to acquire their yearbooks.
Lost and Found What if my student has lost items at PVS? We have lots of unclaimed coats, hats and gloves in out lost and found. If you think your child is missing an item, please call the PVS office at 937.312-1273. We will do our best to see if we can locate it for you. All items in the lost and found will be kept onsite until June 1st.
Bringing Closure to the School Year How will PVS provide closure for students? As much as we want to be face-to-face with our students and give hugs/high fives/fist bumps with them, it is unsafe at this time. Individual teachers have plans for their classes as they are seeking closure too.
Mr. Patrick will be going LIVE on Facebook on Friday May 29th at 11am for an end-of-the-year sing-a-long! Please go to Facebook and search for "Mr. Patrick's 2020 PVS Sing-a-long". When you find the page, "like" it. Then come to Facebook with your children on 5/29 at 11am and Mr. Patrick will lead us in a few peace songs, a few echo songs, and the PVS song to close out the year.
Look for a special video clip from our staff the last week of school. We hope to send you off on summer break with individual messages from our staff.
We are also making a Senior Video. The very first group of kindergarten students that began their school career at PVS are now part of the Senior Class of 2020. They began at PVS 13 years ago and are now graduating from CHS. We will be sending them off with special "Best Wishes" messages in a video that will be shared on May 29th.
Building Transitions: Preparation for Next Year's Grade What is being done to support the outgoing first graders' transition to elementary school? The 2-5 elementary school principals and teachers prepared an introductory video designed for students. It will be shared with all of you through email the last week of school.
Class Placements for Next School Year Will teachers still work collaboratively to place students in classrooms for next school year? Yes! We have adapted our in-depth placement process to a virtual process. After we have finished compiling information from parents and staff, teachers will meet with Mrs. Lunne and me to create balanced classrooms for next school year.
Summer Intervention What intervention opportunities will be available to my child over summer? Centerville Schools will not hold in-person summer interventions for students in grades 1-7. We will be offering online resources for students in grades K-5, with ideas being shared online each week. More information to come as our Curriculum Department is currently finalizing those details.
Technology Is it possible to keep the Chromebook(s) and/or WIFI hotspot that we borrowed from John Hole over the summer? Yes! Families SHOULD continue to borrow Chromebooks and/or WIFI hotspots over the summer. There will be remote learning opportunities available through our Curriculum Department, and we definitely want all students to have access. However, if you are moving out of the district, please return the Chromebook(s) and/or WIFI hotspot during the scheduled curbside drop off / pick up May 26-28.
Quarter 4 Progress Reports How will I receive my student's Progress Report for the fourth quarter? Quarter 4 progress reports will be available in the same way they were for Quarter 3…through the Home Access Center. An email will be sent to parents with directions on Tuesday, June 9.
