District receives DP&L rebate

Centerville City Schools received a rebate of $162,703.90, following a year-long energy audit of Centerville High School by Dayton Power & Light. The audit followed the replacement of the HVAC system at the high school. Read more

DISTRICT NEWS

K-8 art exhibit opens next week
Young artists in Centerville Schools will display their work during the district's annual art exhibition from March 5-15 at the Performing Arts Center. The "Take a Closer Look" exhibit, which takes place during Youth Art Month, celebrates artwork created by kindergarten through eighth grade students. An opening reception is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on March 5.

CHS Culinary Program excels at state
Congratulations to the Centerville High School Culinary Program's Management and Culinary teams! Over the weekend, they competed at the Ohio Restaurant Association state competition. The Management team of Erika Taylor, Derek Johnson and Austin Kick took first place with their restaurant concept "J's Little Diner." In addition, the Culinary team placed fourth in their cooking event, and Austin Kick was presented with the "Top Leadership Award." With their win, the Management team secured a spot to compete at the National Restaurant Association's competition with more than 40 teams from around the country in Providence, R.I., from April 27-29.

Forte takes first place in competition
Congratulations to Forte a Cappella for their first place win with an amazing performance at the ICHSA quarterfinals last weekend! Centerville students in Ohio State Middle School Honor Band
Several band students recently represented our middle schools in the annual Ohio State Middle School Honor Band. These students were selected from nearly 900 middle school band musicians from three states nominated by their band directors. Magsig participants included eighth grader Madeline Hodges (French horn) and seventh grader Paige Parson (baritone saxophone). Eighth grader Isabelle Shaler (flute) was also selected but was unable to participate. The Magsig band is directed by Joshua Carpenter. Tower Heights participants included eighth graders Michael Kunst (French horn) and Aria Carter (flute) and seventh grader Charlotte Kunst (oboe). The Tower Heights band is directed by Michael Voytek. Watts participants included eighth graders Grecia Garcia-Rodriguez (trombone) and Riddhi Datta (clarinet) and seventh graders Mason Dull (trumpet) and Megan Weaver (clarinet). The Watts band is directed by Sheila Reynolds.

Science Saturdays

[Grades 2-6] Science Saturdays is a free event that offers a fun and engaging look at the world of science. Shows are held on the second Saturday of the month at the Engineers Club of Dayton. Content has been developed for students in grades 2-6, but audience members of all ages are invited to attend and participate.

Volunteer to Help Homebound with Snow Removal
[All ages] The City of Centerville is looking for families, clubs and others to assist elderly residents with snow shoveling at no charge or for a small fee. To volunteer, call the City at 433-7151.
