Dear Families,
Please join us as the PTO kicks off The Weller Reading Challenge! This year's theme is "Wild About Reading" and will run from Jan. 15– 29. Information packets should come home via backpack express, but are also attached here. To kick off the event, students had the opportunity to start reading today with 15 minutes in class. We need parents to verify time spent reading at home by signing the log sheet as well as 60 minute raffle tickets for every hour your student reads. Teachers assign reading every night so make sure your child logs that time. Students can earn extra raffle tickets (1 per day) by visiting the Centerville Library. Please refer to the packet for more details & prize information.
All paperwork & raffle tickets are due January 29th.
We have planned some fun events to go along with the Reading Challenge!
Wed, Jan. 15: Read-In Day – Kids will spend 15 minutes of class time in silent reading that counts on Minute Recording Sheet
Thurs., Jan. 16: School visit by David Catrow, author/illustrator with over 70 published children's books. Kick off Book Donations for Hannah's Treasure Chest (more info to come via email)
