News for November 10, 2019 Pictured Above: The Purple Neighborhood had a mural artist visit from the K12 Art Gallery on Wednesdday. His name is BK Elias. His bio is quite interesting! His story starts with him being a Sudanese refugee. He and his family ended up in Centerville where he actually started his schooling at Driscoll Elementary! He then attended St. Benedict (Resurrection then) and eventually Stivers School for the Arts. (Mrs. Mahaffey taught him when was in 5th grade!!!)
He has painted many murals throughout the Dayton area!
The Purple Neighborhood read a book called The One Day House. They then brainstormed ways that they could "one day" give back. We made the connection that artists give back to their community by painting murals. Murals can share a story and a message of kindness.
He shared about his artwork as well as painted many murals in front of the Purple Neighborhood's little PVN artists in our Drama Center. BK used the students ideas of ways to show kindness, giving, and caring. While he was painting, the students too turns painting "giving" words to display around PVN.
Thank you to our PTO for providing the funds to have BK come to PVN!

On behalf of the PVN staff we want to thank you for an OVERWHELMING response to our Enjoy the City Coupon Book fundraiser. We sold more books than ever before, allowing us to provide programs and supplies to enhance your child's education at PVN. Thank you so much!
