Wednesday, September 11, 2019 SPIRIT WEEK: This week is Spirit Week at Watts. On Thursday students will eat lunch together with their advisory followed by an afternoon of advisory activities geared toward team building and promoting a positive school community.
FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL SPONSORED BY CENTERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL: Saturday, September 14, from 5 - 9 p.m.: There will be food trucks, games, performances by Forte, the coeds dance team, a car smash, and so much more! It is a great way to end the summer. Join the fun with friends and family. Proceeds from the event will go to support local charities CHS will be supporting this year.
PSAT REGISTRATION DEADLINE: PSAT letters and registration forms were sent home yesterday with 7th and 8th graders yesterday. Those interested in taking the PSAT on Saturday, October 19th, at Tower Heights Middle School should return the registration as soon as possible to 111 Virginia Avenue. The PSAT is a challenging test that measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills. This is the same test taken by high school juniors to qualify for National Merit Scholarship recognition. Students who take the test receive free access to college planning tools, including a report detailing their level of potential for high school AP courses. Registration forms with payment are due on Tuesday, October 1st.
WATTS PTO FALL PARTY: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!: The PTO will once again host a fun-filled evening of games, music, food, pie-eating, hair painting, and much, much more for Watts students on Tuesday, October 15th. An informational flyer and permission slip will go home in the coming weeks. In the meantime, this night cannot happen without many volunteers giving their time and energy. ATTENTION SKIERS AND BOARDERS: It may be warm outside now but we are "thinking snow" as early as we can! If you like trying new things, meeting new people, enjoy cold weather and playing in the snow this is the club for you! The Centerville Middle School Ski and Rider Club is celebrating 16 years and is for Centerville middle school students only, however any friend, family member or alumni can take advantage of our awesome discount pricing! GIRLS MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL: All 7th and 8th grade girls interested in playing middle school basketball this season that are NOT involved in a fall sport should attend Open gyms beginning on Monday, September 9 from 7:30-9 p.m. Open gym will continue on Mondays during that time through October 21st.

WATTS FALL BOOK FAIR: Attention Watts parents! We are in need of volunteers for the Fall Book Fair! No previous Book Fair experience is required – all you need to do is sign up (and maybe enjoy books). The Book Fair will be held in the Watts library beginning Monday, September 30th and ending Friday, October 4th. We have broken up each day into 3 time slots: A. 8:45 am-10:45 am B. 10:45 am-12:45 pm C. 12:45 pm-3:00 pm (please note this time slot is slightly longer than 2 hours) We would like to have at least one volunteer for each day (Monday through Friday) and each time slot (A, B, and C). We ask that you please arrive a few minutes early for your scheduled time, so the book fair is not left unattended. Please sign up for as many time slots as you would like. Please email Lillie Walsh (lillie.walsh@centerville.k12.oh.us) if you would like to volunteer. Be sure to include your name, a contact number, the date(s) and the time(s) you would like to volunteer. You will be sent an email confirming your volunteer date(s) and time(s); additionally, you will be sent a reminder email the week before the Book Fair occurs.
LACROSSE UPDATES: Attention 7th & 8th Grade GIRLS: Are you interested in trying out for the girls middle school lacrosse team this spring? Then come to open fields on Mondays in September & October from 4:15 – 5:15 at Watts Middle School (first session on Sept. 9 and no session on Oct. 14th). We will be working outside on stick skills, conditioning, and team bonding. Existing players should bring lacrosse gear & water bottle. All girls need a mouth guard. Attention 6th Grade BOYS & GIRLS: The Centerville Youth Lacrosse club would like to invite boys and girls in grades K-6 to attend our upcoming "Give Lacrosse a Try" days on September 22 and/or September 28 from 4-6pm at Robert F Mays Park, 10553 Paragon Rd, Centerville, OH 45459. EQUESTRIAN CLUB: Attention, horse lovers! Please mark your calendars for our first meeting of the year to be held on Thursday, September 17th at 5:00 pm at Misty Creek Equestrian Center. Misty Creek is located at 4117 Conference Rd. in Bellbrook, just across from Sugarcreek Reserve. We will meet in the basement of the house, in the meeting room. (Go through the door to the right of the HOUSE garage and down the stairs.) Full Membership for the year is $35 and includes a club t-shirt, a club sticker, a 30 min. introductory riding lesson; as well as all meetings, snacks, craft supplies and a pizza party. Partial Membership is $15 and includes attendance at all club meetings/events and covers the cost of snacks, craft supplies and a pizza party. CHS Equestrian Club is open to Centerville students in grades 5-12 and meets monthly during the school year.
