GIRLS SOCCER: CHS Girls Soccer – Varsity Game – 8/19/2019- Last night in front of a hostile crowd Wade Field, the Lady Elks Varsity soccer suffered their first loss to the Springboro Panthers 1-0. Springboro was able to get an early goal in the first half off an unlucky deflection to take the lead. The lady elks battled back and had several opportunities but were unable to put one in the back of the net. It was a hard fought game on a hot night and the Lady Elks will definitely be looking forward to the rematch at the end of the season. The lady Elks will be back in action at home this Wednesday 8-21 when they face Northmont at 7:15 pm. Be sure to come out and support your Lady Elks.
CHS Girls Soccer – JVA Game – 8/19/2019 - The Lady Elks JVA second game of the season was played in Springboro under sunny skies with a game time temp of 90 degrees. The first half of play between the Elks and Panthers was back and forth with a few quality chances at both ends. Elks defenders Kiara McMillan, Jami Spitler, Charlotte Kunst and Molly Wiedemann were solid, dismantling several swift attacks up the middle by the Panthers. The sides were scoreless at halftime. A threatening free kick by Nicole Carfora with 12 minutes remaining did not connect however instigated a wave of Elk chances. With 10 minutes remaining Sophie Schluter collected the ball just short of mid field and made an inspiring run, shedding defenders and beating the Panthers goalie low in the middle of the net. A late run was swiftly chased down by Natalie Adams stopping the last Panther threat. Molly Cline was again solid in net and earned a second clean sheet. The Lady Elks JVA team defeated the Springboro Panthers 1-0 and will next be in action at Legacy Field versus Northmont Wednesday, August 21st starting at 5:30p.
