S.A.L.T. is a free monthly series developed to provide valuable information, along with resources and guidance, to families of children or students with developmental disabilities to help navigate the transition from school to adult life and beyond.
S.A.L.T-TEENS (students/young adults ages 14+) are also encouraged to attend their own series, which takes place at the same time as the parents' series. Students will participate in fun interactive activities to help them prepare for the transition from school to adult life.
If you know of any programs or activities that are available to students and families of children with disabilities, please let me know. I'd love to include them all for families.

About me:
My husband, Rob and I have two students currently in Centerville and one who graduated from CHS in 2017. Our daughter, who is a senior, recently transitioned to a 504 plan after being on an IEP starting in the second grade for a specific learning disability in reading. Our son, who is an eighth grader at Magsig Middle School, has Down syndrome and has had an ISP and/or IEP since birth. I have been through the whole process, from evaluation to transitioning to college. In addition to my parental experience, I have a masters degree in education, taught high school English at Lebanon and substitute taught in Centerville Schools for 7 years. This makes me uniquely qualified to help parents and staff in Centerville and Oakwood schools meet the needs of children with special needs. I have a passion for children and for schools. In my free time I enjoy spending time in nature, scrapbooking, refinishing furniture and learning about health and nutrition. I am looking forward to working with families and teachers as a parent mentor.
