Foundation honors school staff, supporters
The Centerville Education Foundation (CEF) is honoring a group of outstanding individuals for their commitment to Centerville City Schools, the community and improving education. The organization typically holds a Hall of Fame banquet each year, but due to the ongoing health crisis this spring, they are honoring 18 educators, students and alumni virtually. Each recipient is recognized with their photo and an article on the CEF website.

"We are so proud of our team!" said Beth Cahill, a science teacher at Watts Middle School who helps coach the team. "They are fantastic people with an amazing work ethic, ability to work as a cohesive team, and respect for the efforts of everyone involved. They are intense competitors and fine young people. Thank you to the NOSB for pulling off this virtual tournament!" CHS students compete in ProStart Invitational The Centerville High School Culinary Arts program recently competed in the annual ProStart Invitational. Although this year's competition was not quite the same since it was held virtually, students still worked hard to submit their projects. Teacher Mark Mitrovich said, "In these times of trying to keep students focused, it was encouraging to see these kids stick with their project and pull together a great example of Elk pride!" Students will find out in the coming weeks how they finished.

Mike DeWine announced on April 20 that the closure of K-12 school buildings in Ohio will be extended for the remainder of the school year. Our teachers will continue the remote learning we have in place through the end of this school year on May 28 (May 20 for seniors). We will keep providing updates to our families and staff members through our website, The Education Connection phone system and email notification from individual teachers, schools and the district. Frequently asked questions Our website includes a list of questions and answers as our district responds to the extended school closure due to the coronavirus. This FAQ page will be updated as information changes. Remote learning Our Curriculum Department, Technology Department, administrators and teaching staff have been able to implement remote learning opportunities for all students at all grade levels. For the majority of our students, this is being accomplished through Google Classroom. Our youngest learners brought home materials, receive emails with assignments from their classroom teacher, and have access to a website with more ideas. Families will continue to receive updates from your child's teacher(s) over the coming weeks. Share your photos We'd love to see photos of our students and teachers participating in remote learning activities. Reply to this email with a photo of your child(ren), and we may feature it in an upcoming post on social media! Check out our YouTube channel to see photos we've already shared.
