Remote learning resumes this week
Even though we can't be together in person, we were still excited to welcome our Elks back to school following spring break! A few of our staff members joined together to share a special "Welcome Back" message with students.
View full video Remote learning checklist for families School buildings in Ohio are now closed through May 1, which may feel overwhelming to many families. Our teaching staff will continue offering the remote learning that we had in place prior to spring break. If you find yourself wondering how to keep up, check out these tips from our Curriculum Department, and remember that we are here to help! Please contact your child's teacher, counselor or principal if you have any questions or concerns. Remote Learning Checklist for Families - Make sure your child has a device and Internet access. If you still need these items, please contact your child's principal.
- Help your child find a place in the house to work.
- Concentrate on the curriculum and lessons provided by your child's teacher(s). Check in with your child to see how they are doing, and ask the teacher questions if needed.
- Feel free to use other online resources to complement lessons from school, but don't overwhelm yourself or your child!
- A full-day classroom schedule is unrealistic at home – give your family flexibility with plenty of physical movement, mental breaks, and time away from the screen.
- Remember, children also learn through play and other experiences around the house.
Thank you for working with us as we navigate through these extraordinary times! Gov. Mike DeWine announced on March 30 that the closure of K-12 schools in Ohio would be extended through at least Friday, May 1. All events, athletic and extracurricular activities are cancelled until schools reopen. Our teachers are continuing the remote learning that we have in place, and we will keep providing updates to our families and staff members through our website, The Education Connection phone system and email notification from individual teachers, schools and the district.
Frequently asked questions Our website includes a list of questions and answers as our district responds to the extended school closure due to the coronavirus. This FAQ page will be updated as information changes. Remote learning Our Curriculum Department, Technology Department, administrators and teaching staff have been able to implement remote learning opportunities for all students at all grade levels. For the majority of our students, this is being accomplished through Google Classroom. Our youngest learners brought home materials, receive emails with assignments from their classroom teacher, and have access to a website with more ideas. Families will continue to receive updates from your child's teacher(s) over the coming weeks.
