14th Annual Dottie Yeck Good Life Award Writing Contest [Grades 7-9] The 14th Annual Dottie Yeck Good Life Award Writing Contest opens for online entries Monday, Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. Students who are enrolled in a curriculum for 7th–9th grade are eligible to enter. VFW Voice of Democracy Essay Scholarship Contest [Grades 9-12] Since 1947, the Voice of Democracy has been the Veterans of Foreign Wars' premier scholarship program. Each year, nearly 40,000 high school students compete for more than $2 million in scholarships and incentives. Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay. Don't delay as Select tryouts begin in mid-September. Recreational and Intermediate registration for grades 1-9 is now open as well. Please note there is now an option for 1st and 2nd grade girls.
