WHIO and the Dayton Daily News are hosting a panel discussion on school safety issues on Monday, March 12 in Kettering. The event will be broadcast live on WHIO radio and will be live-streamed on Cox Media websites. They also are inviting students, parents and staff from neighboring school districts to attend.

 

If you are interested in attending, the event will run from 7-8:30 p.m. at Van Buren Middle School, 3775 Shroyer Road, Kettering, 45429. Everyone will enter the school through the front doors, on the Shroyer side. The auditorium is just inside those front doors.

  • Jerry Ellender, treasurer for Mad River Local Schools
  • Scott Inskeep, superintendent for Kettering City Schools
  • Hashim Jabar, parent and leader of Racial Justice Now and the West Dayton Youth Task Force
  • Peggy Lehner, state senator, chair of the Ohio Senate Education Committee
  • Phil Plummer, sheriff for Montgomery County
  • Chip Protsman, police chief for the City of Kettering
  • Charlie Ross, student at Oakwood High School
  • Joni Watson, teacher at Horace Mann PreK-6 School in Dayton

 

WHIO-TV news anchor James Brown will ask questions of the panelists and moderate the discussion. He will also choose some questions submitted by audience members and present those for debate.
