Speech & Debate
We Offer More Than You Think!
In terms of ACADEMICS, our team members improve critical thinking, problem solving, analysis, effective impromptu answers, a deeper understanding of cause and effect -- coupled with economic and political implications, and a universal rather than ethno-centric view of the world.
Simultaneously, our students develop self-confidence, poise, effective communication skills and the ability to read an audience in order to persuade with logic, rhetoric and pathos.
If you want to learn more, click on the questions below to discover the answers:
- Why join the Speech and Debate Team? How will the skills learned help me for my future?
- Will I have to stand up in front of a bunch of people and talk?
- What are the different categories? Some people like to argue (debate) and some people like to perform (act). Speech and Debate offers both ... and so much more!
- Is this co-curricular activity offered to both middle school as well as high school? Yes, it is! Just read the category descriptions above!
Our activity is devoted to improving students’ time management, communication and thinking skills while developing confidence and poise.
We believe that we can educate, have fun and also be highly competitive.
Participation in Speech and Debate does not prevent students from being able to participate in other activities, but it does require dedicated commitment, strong work ethic and attention to time management skills. The season begins in October, but students can join at any time.
