Board of Education

The Centerville Board of Education is made up of five elected citizens who are residents of Centerville-Washington Township. The board is the governing body of the school district. A board of education in Ohio acts for the public as one of the state's agencies, for the organization and administration of the public school system of the state.

Each board member is elected for a four-year term that begins on Jan. 1 after their election and expires on Dec. 31, except as otherwise provided by law.

Board Meetings & Agendas

Board of Education work sessions are typically held on the third Monday of each month, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the South Unit Commons at Centerville High School. Regular meetings are typically held on the fourth Monday of each month, beginning at 7 p.m. in the South Unit Commons at Centerville High School.

Upcoming meeting dates, times and locations are listed below. A link to the agenda for each meeting will be added to the appropriate date on the calendar as the event date nears. Hard copies of the agenda are also available at each meeting.

Board Policies

Written policies and bylaws, all approved by the board, serve as guidelines for operation of the schools. Click here to view the Board Policy Manual. Once the BoardDocs website has opened, click on the Policies button in the top right corner to search the manual.

Hearing of the Public

The Board of Education provides an opportunity for public comment at their meetings. Speakers are requested to address the board from the podium, to state their name and address (minor students only need to state their names). All who speak must limit their comments to no more than three minutes as the board does have pre-scheduled reports and action items on the agenda.

The board will listen to all who speak, but generally not engage in discussion or dialogue. Matters requiring follow-up will be directed to the superintendent. Individual board members can be contacted for a set meeting appointment, and written correspondence can be mailed to the board office.

Per board policy, the Hearing of the Public is limited to a total of 30 minutes. More information about Public Participation at Board Meetings is available by searching for PO0169.1 in the Board Policy Manual.
