The Centerville Board of Education approved the 2017-18 academic calendar during their meeting last night, and students will be heading back to school a week later than in recent years.
The first day of school for students will be Aug. 16, and the calendar includes a Fall Break (Oct. 12-16) at the end of the first quarter. Spring Break will be March 26-30, which is earlier than usual to provide more instructional days before spring testing begins.
The district will again have eight, scheduled two-hour delays so teachers and administrators have time for professional development and collaboration opportunities. Two-hour delays will be on Aug. 30, Sept. 27, Oct. 31, Nov. 16, Jan. 24, Feb. 14, March 8 and May 3.
Centerville City Schools serve more than 8,100 students in Centerville and Washington Township in southwest Ohio, offering a variety of educational programs to a diverse student population. The district operates 13 school buildings, as well as two preschools and a bus facility accommodating and servicing more than 100 buses. Visit www.centerville.k12.oh.us for more information.
