Graduating from Centerville High School

Graduation Requirements

Students graduating from Centerville High School are required to earn 21 total credits. These credits must include:

4 credits of English including English 9, 10, 11, and 1 additional credit of English

4 credits of Mathematics including 1 credit of Algebra II or the equivalent of Algebra II

3 credits of science including 1 credit of Physical Science, 1 credit of Biology, and 1 additional credit of Science

3 credits of social studies including 1 credit of U. S. History, 1/2 credit of U. S. Government, and 1 1/2 credits of Social Studies electives (9th World Concepts & Themes and Social Studies Elective)

1 credit of Fine Arts

1/2 credit of Health

1/2 credit (2 units) of Physical Education (additional information regarding PE units)

Honors Diploma

For an honors diploma to be awarded through the regular curriculum, a graduate must meet at least 7 of the 8 following criteria:

4 credits of English

4 credits of Mathematics including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and another higher level course

4 credits of Science including Biology, Physics, and Chemistry

4 credits of Social Studies

3 credits of one World Language or 2 credits each of 2 World Languages

1 credit of fine arts

3.5 GPA or better at the end of 7 semesters

Composite score of 27 on the ACT or combined score of 1210 on the SAT (Critical Reading & Math)

Career/Technical Honors Diploma

A graduate can be awarded an honors diploma through one of the career/technical programs by meeting at least 7 of 8 of the following criteria:

4 credits of English

4 credits of Mathematics including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and another higher level course

4 credits of Science including Biology, Physics, and Chemistry

4 credits of Social Studies

4 credits in the student's career-technical education curriculum

Pass the Ohio Career Technical Competency Assessment or its equivalent

3.5 GPA or better at the end of 7 semesters

Composite score of 27 on the ACT or combined score of 1210 on the SAT (Critical Reading & Math)
