PLEASE CONTACT THE VOYAGER DIRECTORS: LAURA COOKE - 937-371-9048 OR KAREN SIRMANS - 937-231-8800 or EMAIL: laura.cooke@centerville.k12.oh.us or karen.sirmans@centerville.k12.oh.us Voyager Voice Mail: 937-438-6030 Ext. 333 The Voyager AfterSchool Program takes place between 2:30-6:00 p.m. on school days and is based in the Multipurpose Room or Cafe. The cost is $12.00 per child per day. Enrollment is by the month only, not day-to-day. Children may attend fewer days but the full amount published for each month must be paid. There is no adjustment made for attending fewer days. Fees vary each month depending on how many days school is scheduled for that month. There is also a Registration Fee of $25.00 per child for each schpol year. (Non Refundable) . The fees charged pay for the entire program and no district funds are involved. This program differs from other after school programs because a portion of each session is devoted to activities based on, Voyager Instructor-created, learning curriculum. Students enrolled in the program must have the ability to work independently at times, function and contribute in small groups, and follow the rules established by the school and the Voyager Program. The activities are all discovery-based, covering the major curriculum areas and are designed to increase basic knowledge and promote thinking skills. Strong emphasis is also placed on completion of daily homework assignments under the supervision of the Voyager Instructors. Sample Schedule:
The Voyager AfterSchool Program was piloted, and has been in operation, at Normandy Elementary School since the beginning of the 1997-98 school year. Because of the success of the pilot program, expansion began in other Centerville Schools in 2000-2001 with the addition of Stingley Elementary School. In 2004-05 John Hole Elementary and Driscoll Elementary started the program. With the beginning of the 2007-08 school year, the other two remaining elementary schools, Cline and Weller, and the two Kdg-1 buildings, Primary Village North and Primary Village South, began their Voyager Programs. If you have any questions, please contact us through the information listed at the beginning of this page.
Voyagers Build Gingerbread HousesWednesday, December 22, 2010Voyager Celebrates the SnowTuesday, January 25, 2011At Normandy Voyager, we've been celebrating the snowy weather! We decorated our bulletin board with different types of snowflakes. Two of our students made letters for the board saying, "Swirling and Twirling". After that, we made ice cream out of snow. It was really good and tasted exactly like regular ice cream. Finally, guess what we did? We made our own snowflakes! We used jars and added Borax laundry detergent and mixed it with boiling water. They turned out wonderful and look like crystal snowflakes. These are some activities that we're doing in Voyager for the month of January.
