Primary Village South PTO

Welcome PVS Families!

Our PTO’s mission is to enhance the learning environment of students by providing educational services to families and raising funds to meet the needs of the school community. We believe…

• Any amount of volunteer time you can give makes a positive difference in the lives of children at PVS.

• Organization, efficiency, and leadership are the keys to successful PTO initiatives.

• Volunteer opportunities should match the time constraints of today’s busy families.

• Identifying school needs will steer the PTO fundraising efforts.

• We value the sense of community by promoting the development of friendships and personal growth opportunities in leadership.

We want to promote an educational environment where teachers can do their best work and students can do their best learning. We hope you will join us in our efforts and become an active member of your child’s school!

Volunteer with PVS PTO

We welcome all parents & guardians to volunteer at Primary Village South! You can become an academic volunteer in the classroom, library or café or you can become a PTO volunteer by working on a committee, working a shift at an event, or being a homeroom parent to help plan the two classroom parties throughout the year. Your involvement gives you the opportunity to stay informed of your child’s education and helps the school immensely as we work together to create a place of wonder for our children at Primary Village South.

If you are interested in volunteering at Primary Village South, please complete this PTO Volunteer Sheet or this Academic Volunteer Form and return to school.

Another way you can help your child's classroom directly is by contributing to your teacher’s wish list through! Many of our teachers are creating lists for special projects and basic classroom needs. Your contribution is a direct and immediate way to offer support. Click the logo below to see if your child’s teacher has a list that you can contribute towards today!

PVS PTO Grant/Donation Program

In previous years our children have had access to educational opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom that have unfortunately been cut due to budget constraints from failed levies.

In an effort to address the issue of reduced funding for our school and the growing needs of our PVS school community, the PVS PTO has established a consisting of parents, teachers, and our Principal, Amy Allen. The committee’s goal is to identify areas in need of support and to secure additional money necessary to fund a “Wish List” of curriculum-based programs and school needs. We hope to secure funds from a variety of sources, including grants, local businesses & organizations, as well as our PVS families interested in making direct tax-deductible donations.

Below are some initial “Wish List” initiatives that our committee has identified for funding for this year. We will continue to add to this list as additional needs are identified.

  • • Technology Initiative: Increase in-classroom technology, specifically iPads. At a minimum this year, the PTO would like to fund a classroom set of iPads that can be shared across neighborhoods.
  • Approximate cost: $6,900
  • Funding for Technology Initiative received to date: $1,025
  • Status as of 11/1/13: Purchasing iPads through District with available funds.
  • • Science/Engineering/Math: Boonshoft Museum of Discovery “Exhibits to Go” or Cincinnati Museum Center Programs-on-Wheels.
  • Approximate cost: $2,000
  • • Literacy Initiative: Visit from an Author or Illustrator.
  • Approximate cost: $2,000-$3,000
  • • Art Initiative: Town Hall Theater Residency.
  • Approximate cost: $1,000
  • • Book Re-binding Project (PVS received a donation of nearly 500 quality hardback books that need to be rebound and placed in our school’s library.)
  • Approximate cost: $1,500
  • Funding for Book Re-binding Project received to date: $825
  • Status as of 11/1/13: Books are currently being rebound with a combination of the funding above and approved PTO funding.

PVS PTO has also received the following unrestricted funds to date (as of 11/1/13) that we will spend on the above initiatives (principal & committee to determine priorities): $1,575

Please click the Donate button if you are interested in making a private donation towards one of these initiatives. We also welcome referrals to local businesses or foundations that you may either be associated with or would recommend that we get in touch with for support. We also accept checks (made out to PVS PTO) that are sent to school in an envelope marked “PVS PTO Grant/Donation Program”. Please contact Anjeanette Rettig, President, PVS PTO, with any questions.

Primary Village South’s PTO is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible. We will provide a receipt with our tax ID for any donations received.
