Primary Village South
As a parent of a prospective kindergartner, we welcome you to Centerville City Schools for the 2015-2016 school year. If your child will turn 5 before September 30, 2015, you are invited to register your child for kindergarten. Registration will be held on
Wednesday, March 4: 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
1. Driver’s license or state issued photo identification of individual enrolling student
5. Proof of Custody
You do not need to bring your child with you to register. Please note: There is no benefit to being at registration early. For working parents, you will miss less work if you come on your lunch break, when there is less of a crowd. Also evening times offer another opportunity outside the work day.
At registration, you will be given the opportunity to choose a time to bring your child in for kindergarten screening. The screening will be held April 27 through May 8. Bring your calendar so that you can choose a time that best meets your schedule.
We look forward to working with your family.

Winter Wonderland at PVSThursday, January 29, 2015
We are enjoying our winter wonderland at PVS. Has your child ever wondered what animal left those prints in your yard? Or how do animals stay warm all winter long? Or why do some animals hibernate? Not only does the snow bring a sense of calm and peacefulness to the woods, but also it brings natural curiosity from our children as they wonder how animals navigate the winter season. With the guidance of our naturalist Laura Peterson, the children have been outside continuing to study the natural habitats of woodland animals in our community by observing the changes that winter brings. Each class has been involved in keeping our bird feeders stocked and our paths cleared. They have witnessed first-hand animal tracks. Through discovery and hands-on experiences in nature this winter, we hope to answer many of the questions they have been naturally curious about. Please remember to dress your child in warm winter gear, hats, gloves and coats so they can enjoy the experience of our winter wonderland at PVS. Read More
Peace Takes Flight Flamily NightFriday, November 14, 2014
It's always a great night when we can open our doors to our families. We had over 500 family members brave the cold weather and join us for our Family Peace Night. We started our evening in the gym with hot chocolate and cookies. Our families wrote personalized peace messages and then tied them to a balloon. Lauren Bizzarro, our school counselor shared our story of how The Peace Project started at PVS and our theme for this year - Peace Takes Flight. The children were led through a wonderful 'peace' sing-a-long with Mrs. Sprague and Mr. Schomburg. Hearing the children's voices along with songs they chose was so sweet and special. When the children finished singing songs of peace, each family was able to launch their peace message and watch it take flight into the nightime sky. Thanks so much for joining us and spreading the message of peace from your family. Read More
IPads for PVSWednesday, October 22, 2014
Thanks to our families, PTO, and our district for securing funds that helped us purchase two IPad carts. We have a team of teachers that are facilitating professional development around the implementation of instructional technology. Yesterday was the first day our teachers explored the possible lessons that could be taught using our new IPads. We will continue to study instructional technology all year as a staff so that we can best use these tools with all our kindergarten and first grade children this year. Read More

Lester Laminack visits PVSTuesday, October 7, 2014
Award-winning children's author and acclaimed educator Lester Laminack visited PVS today to speak with our young children about how to become an author themselves. He used his own books to illustrate the process a writer goes through as they begin to create a book. Every book starts with one good idea. He shared with students the power of a writing notebook as a place to store all the good ideas they come up with for their own books. He modeled for teachers how to embed the Common Core State Standards in oral storytelling and retelling a story. He will also speak with parents this evening (10/7) at Cline Elementary about how to support children as readers and writers at home. Read More
