3rd Grade Play

Normandy's 3rd grade recently presented "Wackadoo Zoo" to parents and students. The gym was filled with unusual animal sounds. Two professors tried to correct the animals, however, after failed attempts, decided that "Different Means Special." It's okay to be different. Snow Outside But Fun in the Gym!

Despite the playground being covered with snow, our students oftern have a great time in the gym for recess. Physical education teacher, Mr. Suter, planned the structured play time for students this winter because he knows how important it is to move during the day. Classes take turns using the gym, which has been divided, using a PTO purchased divider. Everyone has a great time before going back to their classrooms for continued learning. Read More

NORMANDY 4TH GRADERS SUPPORT TJ’S PLACE OF HOPE

TJ’s Place of Hope Chairman Greg Crabtree is speaking with Normandy 4th graders in Jackie Harvey’s class, thanking them for the hand-made gifts they donated to the teens who seek help at TJ’s. With a vision of providing teens “Hope Beyond Addiction,” TJ’s is an organization working to provide a safe, confidential, peer-reinforced environment to restore hope to young people caught in addictions or addictive behaviors. NORMANDY 4TH GRADE CHORUS PERFORMS AT THE HOMETOWN HOLIDAY WALK

The Normandy Elementary 4th Grade Chorus, under the direction of music teacher Phyllis Reed performed at Centerville’s annual Hometown Holiday Walk at Centerville United Methodist Church on November 23. The chorus sang holiday songs that included eight soloists and six students on musical instruments. The group sang America the Beautiful and received a rousing ovation from the overflow crowd in the CUMC sanctuary. Read More

CENTERVILLE MAYOR MARK KINGSEED INSPIRES NORMANDY 3RD GRADERS

Normandy’s 3rd graders had many questions for Centerville Mayor Mark Kingseed when he spoke to them as part of their Government Unit and Citizenship Project, an effort during this 2014-15 school year to “help make Normandy a better and safer place,” according to 3rd grade teacher Rebecca Probasco. Mayor Kingseed reviewed their Citizenship projects, applauding their efforts and urging them to continue being good citizens of Centerville. Read More

Normandy Honors Veterans

Normandy students and staff honored our Veterans on November 11, 2014. Student Council officers lead the entire school in the Pledge of Alliegence. They also announced that many cards were presented Veterans who are travelling to Washington D.C.as part of the Honor Flight program. Additionally, over 400 decorated cards were given to the Blue Star Mothers organization. These heartfelt letters will be added to care packages that will be sent to service members who are currently serving overseas. Read More

ART TEACHER ALICE TAVANI SELECTED AN OAEA “FELLOW”

Normandy’s Alice Tavani has been selected an OAEA (Ohio Art Education Association) “Fellow,” an honor bestowed upon less than 2% of the OAEA membership, reflective of her years of service in the development and enhancement of art education. As a 1st Vice President of OAEA Alice will work with the Ohio Department of Education’s fine art consultant to integrate Best Practices in visual art education in schools around our region.
