Normandy Elementary 5th graders are trying to write by looking in a mirror and seeing their writing backwards, essentially viewing it the way a person with dyslexia would. The exercise was part of the school’s “Everybody Counts” program designed to enlighten students about individual differences and special needs of people with various disabilities. If you can dish it out! We can take it! The Normandy PTO dished up 650 scoops of ice cream and sorbet at the 21st Annual Ice Cream Social on September 22rd. The PTO sponsors the free event to give families a chance to connect and to let them know about the various events and programs the PTO sponsors each year. Fifteen volunteer face- painters from Watts Middle School were a big hit this year. They painted paw prints, animal faces and even a soccer ball for Normandy students. More than 30 volunteers helped to make the night a success including face painters, scoopers, and Cub Scouts in Pack 315 who took charge of the clean up. Maggie Moos Ice Cream and Treatery helped to provide the cool treats. Read More

Wildcat Welcome Team

The “Wildcat Welcome Team” was a new program started this year at Normandy. The program consisted of six fifth grade students who were selected by their teachers to represent Normandy and serve in a leadership role to welcome new students and their families. These students would greet the new student and his/her family and also give him/her a tour of Normandy Elementary School. After the tour, toru guides would give the incoming students a welcome packet that included information about our school, transportation, extra-curricular information, and community information about Centerville.
