Tower Heights Physical EducationClick on the topic heading you wish to read more about. 8th Grade Bowling TripOur 8th graders have the opportunity to go off site,to Poelking Lanes South, to bowl for three days. This takes place during the noon hour, and gives the students a chance to bowl in the real environment, and see if bowling is something they would like to try in a league, or as a varsity sport at the High School. Advisory 2011-12This year marks another year of our building-wide advisory activity, "Tower Power-opoly". This is on a three year rotation, and it provides our advisory with the chance to get to know each other better, as well as the other advisories in the school. PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS GRADINGStudents are graded daily based on their participation, being prepared for class with a change of clothing, and sportsmanship. We will also periodically test the students understanding through written tests, and their skill level through skills tests. Here is a breakdown of our grading system. PARTICIPATION=50% PROPER DRESS=20% SPORTSMANSHIP=10% KNOWLEDGE OF RULES AND STRATEGIES=10% SKILLS PERFORMANCE=10% Physical Education StandardsContent Standard One: Demonstrates compentency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities. Content Standard Two: Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities. PROPER DRESS IS REQUIRED. THIS INCLUDES A CHANGE OF SHIRT AND SHORTS AND TIED, NON-MARKING, GYM SHOES. NO JEWELRY MAY BE WORN. LONG HAIR MUST BE TIED UP. NO GUM. WHEN YOU ENTER THE GYM, MOVE DIRECTLY TO YOUR SPOT AND SIT FOR ATTENDANCE. YOU MAY NOT PLAY WITH EQUIPMENT BEFORE CLASS BEGINS. SHOW RESPECT FOR YOURSELF, AND OTHERS, AT ALL TIMES.
