DRISCOLL STUDENTS EARN A VISIT FROM CON MINGO FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF A CANCER FUNDRAISER

Driscoll 4th grade teacher Tracy Kuehn brought Con Mingo to school for a day after winning the ‘teacher incentive’ part of the school’s Pennies for Patients campaign. As a way to encourage student participation in the Lymphoma-Leukemia Society fundraiser students could use their donation money to vote for their favorite teacher incentive. When all the ‘pennies’ were collected, sorted, and counted Con Mingo came home the winner! Read More

DRISCOLL’S 3RD GRADERS RAISE NEARLY $1,300

Driscoll’s 3rd grade had a “Kindness In Action” project that brought economics to life where students participated in a chore-a-thon to build initial start-up money, and then raised money in a variety of ways: Kelly Gartz's class supported the Ronald McDonald House by selling hot chocolate and doughnuts; Katie Comb's class supported SISCA and used their start-up money to make dog biscuits to sell; and Carrie Schade's class supported Snuggled Up that provides bed kits to children who need beds by making and selling paracord bracelets. A total of $1295.14 was raised. Read More

The Holiday Aid food barrels at Driscoll Elementary are just a part of the food donated by staff, students and their families prior to the holidays to help make others’ holiday season a little brighter. DRISCOLL GRANDPARENTS AND VETERANS HONORED

Students and staff at Driscoll Elementary honored their grandparents and service members, both active and retired, during their annual 3rd Grade Veterans Program on November 25. The Driscoll chorus, under the direction of music teacher Jennifer Eyink, led the assembled students, staff, and guests in the singing of the Star Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful, in addition to the chorus singing the theme song for each of the nation’s five military branches of service. CENTERVILLE SCHOOLS HOST AUTHOR LESTER LAMINACK

Award-winning children's author and acclaimed educator Lester Laminack met with Centerville parents at a 7 pm open meeting about how to support children as readers and writers at home. During the day he visited with students (at Driscoll, shown above) and staff, sharing tips about how to become an effective writer, including the value of a writing notebook, and for staff how to embed the Common Core State Standards into oral storytelling. 3RD GRADERS ASSIST MAYOR ON ARBOR DAY

Elementary principals and selected 3rd grade students joined the City of Centerville and the Centerville City Beautiful Commission in the celebration of this year’s Arbor Day with a Tree Planting Ceremony at Benham’s Grove. After opening comments by Mayor Mark Kingseed the thirteen students assisted in the planting of nine trees around the North Main Street property.
